24. smoking in public places

People who smoke alongside other people without their consent do not seem respectful to me. Many people assume that you have to put up with the smoke and unbearable smell of tobacco. I have never liked the smell because it distresses me. I don't understand why people who don't smoke have to be passive smokers and have to swallow other people's smoke. It is scientifically proven that even if you don't smoke, by being next to a person who does smoke, in the end you are smoking too. The only difference is that I have not had the choice to "smoke" or not. I find it disrespectful to all those people who smoke in public spaces without first asking the people around if they don't mind. Not to mention people who smoke in places where there are children. In conclusion, I would like to warn all those people who smoke and tell them to ask the others before they light their cigarette if they don't mind.
